Identify the tractor PIN, installed engine, mower deck and attachments before choosing parts for a John Deere X724. Keep each assembly’s record separate. Confirm X724 engine identity before ordering service parts

Deere’s November 2019 maintenance-kit table lists LG244 for X724 without naming an engine or serial boundary in that row. The same month’s older-X700 attachment section distinguishes LG244 as EFI, LG245 as Carburetor and LG260 as Diesel. These are separate kit identities.

Obtain the installed engine identification and replacement history, then confirm the market and current kit application. The historic model row does not identify an engine installed later. Compare the current itemized contents with the intended service before ordering.

No verified LG244 offer is provided here, and no LG245 or neighboring-model kit is substituted. When comparing tractors, use the same work, equipment, access and condition assumptions. A horsepower claim or similar advertised price is insufficient for a total-cost comparison.

No measured fuel-use, vibration, mowing-time or slope result is supplied. Request a permitted demonstration, dated records and a qualified assessment where necessary. Anonymous owner stories do not establish the performance of this particular X724.

Resolve X724 deck identity and cutting-equipment requirements

Record the fitted deck model and serial before choosing blades, belts, wheels or a conversion. Do not transfer a 60-inch-deck offer from a neighboring model: the April 2015 9076M 60D entry lists X720 but not X724 and explicitly excludes four-wheel steer. That entry does not establish X724 fit.

Deere’s current AM130907 page includes X724 in its general-fit list and explicitly states that the gauge replaces TY15272. It still requires actual equipment selection for the most accurate fit. Obtain the fitted deck’s preparation, pressure checks, measuring points and adjustment instructions.

A leveling gauge assists the specified measurement; it does not identify the deck or diagnose every uneven-cut complaint. Have unresolved vibration, mounting, spindle, wheel and blade concerns assessed rather than assuming that one adjustment or new blade set will solve them.

Identify the full cutting arrangement and any collection or mulch equipment. Ask which guards, mounts, controls and conversion pieces are required and included. An individual blade pack or an accessory name cannot supply a complete installation.

Measure full outside width and access with the actual deck and attachments fitted. Compare gates, storage and transport space. Nominal cutting width and a photograph do not establish that the complete machine will fit the proposed route.

Check X724 rear attachments against transmission records

For rear-PTO proposals, record the transmission identification separately from the tractor PIN. Deere’s November 2019 older-X700 attachment section distinguishes two 540-rpm PTO references around mid-June 2010 production. A model name or seller-supplied year alone cannot resolve that choice.

The reference lists BM21914 for production through mid-June 2010, referring to the Sales Manual’s tractor serial break and/or transmission serial prefixes K02 or K03. It lists BM23588 after mid-June 2010 and transmission prefix K00. Confirm the actual transmission and current application; these are not deck serials.

The same section distinguishes BM17327 Category 0 three-point hitch, requiring BM23883 adapter for X700s, from BUC10169 limited Category 1. Establish the actual hitch, implement and required mounting equipment. No PTO, hitch or complete attachment offer is supplied here.

Check cab, enclosure, hitch and attachment combinations before buying separate components. Measure the configured machine for storage and transport. Obtain the applicable installation and operating restrictions rather than assuming every item listed for the family can be used together.

Use a mirror or light only to read safely accessible markings after the manual’s preparation. Ullman HTC-2 is a telescoping inspection mirror; Streamlight 66318 MicroStream is the AAA model, not the USB version. Neither establishes internal condition, diagnoses a fault or confirms compatibility.
