Keep It Green: Our Top John Deere Maintenance Kits for Peak Performance

John Deere maintenance kit — filters, oil bottles and a parts checklist on a workshop bench.
John Deere maintenance kit — service parts and a manual on a farm-workshop bench.

Match a John Deere maintenance kit to the machine, its serial number or PIN, and the installed engine before comparing offers. A mower deck width or a seller’s model list does not establish which engine service parts to buy. Use the current Deere parts catalog and the machine’s operator manual to confirm the kit number and the work due.

Read the machine and engine identification first

  1. Record the complete machine model and serial number or product identification number (PIN). Use the identification plate, not just the hood decal.
  2. Record the installed engine’s identification. If it differs from the original specification, ask a Deere dealer to resolve the parts lookup for that engine.
  3. In the , select the machine and inspect the applicable serial-number and engine notes. Copy the exact kit part number, including any replacement number the catalog identifies.
  4. Check that number against the kit label and the seller’s written contents. Pause the order if the identifiers disagree or the correct catalog branch is unclear.

provide access to parts diagrams and model-specific reference material. Save the machine details with the lookup for a dealer to check any unresolved match.

An older X300 table shows why the serial number matters

Deere’s Home Maintenance Kits by Model guide, updated November 21, 2019, separates these X300 entries:

LG265180001 onwardFS600V; FS541V

Source: . This is a historical lookup example, not a current fitment approval for an X300. Confirm the present catalog branch, installed engine and any part-number changes before ordering either kit.

Separate the kit contents from the rest of the job

Read the itemized contents of the exact kit rather than assuming that every maintenance kit includes oil, every filter, spark plugs or blades. Compare the part numbers and quantities with the service work specified for your machine.

An engine service kit does not establish what the deck, transmission, hydraulic system or attachment needs. If those items are due for service, look them up separately. A 42-inch or 48-inch deck description alone is insufficient to select an engine kit; deck parts also need their own correct identifiers. A zero-turn mower, utility tractor or agricultural machine needs its own lookup; the lawn-tractor example does not establish its service parts.

Make a separate-parts list only after the manual and catalog identify a need. That list might include an additional fluid, a deck component or another service item; it is not an instruction to replace all of them whenever an engine kit is used.

AUC13705: compare the component numbers, too

Deere’s U.S. shop lists AUC13705 with an AM116304 fuel filter, an AUC12916 EASY CHANGE engine oil filter, two MIU11020 spark plugs and an MIU13038 engine air cleaner. . The record was reviewed on October 19, 2026; it is a contents example, not approval for your machine. Deere describes the displayed compatible-equipment models as general fit and asks customers to select their equipment for accuracy.

Use that component list to check an offer claiming the same kit number. Do not substitute a conventional oil-filter bundle for an EASY CHANGE kit just because the machine name appears in both listings. Confirm the applicable service system and exact parts first.

Take the schedule and fluid requirements from the manual

A kit’s contents do not set the service interval. Consult the operator manual for the machine and installed engine for the specified work, timing, fluid requirements and applicable operating-condition notes. Do not treat the number of oil bottles in a box as the engine’s fill quantity. Resolve an engine replacement or conflicting instructions with a dealer before buying service parts or fluids.

Compare offers only after the part number matches

Buying a kit is one option; buying the required parts separately is another. Use the same verified service work as the basis for the comparison. Compare the delivered total for the required quantities, including any separately needed items, rather than the kit price alone.

  • Identity: Does the offer state the exact kit part number and brand? Check whether it is a Deere kit or an aftermarket assortment described as compatible. A shared model name does not make the contents equivalent.
  • Contents and quantity: Match each listed component and its count. Check whether “quantity 1” buys one complete kit or one individual component. Ask the seller to clarify an incomplete list before paying.
  • Delivery: Check the delivered total for your address and whether the estimated arrival meets your planned service date.
  • Returns: Read that seller’s current return terms before opening or installing anything. Check the return window, condition and packaging requirements, return shipping and any exclusions. Do not assume that Deere’s own shop terms apply to a marketplace seller.

Save the offer and its stated contents. When the box arrives, compare the labels and counts with the order before using the parts. If the contents or identifiers differ, leave the affected parts unused and ask the seller to resolve the discrepancy.
