Start a pallet-fork comparison with the loader’s carrier and the intended load. Ask for evidence of fit and the rating basis before choosing tine length or comparing prices. Keep the fork assembly’s rating separate from what the tractor and loader may lift in their approved configuration.
Identify the carrier
Start the inquiry with the tractor model and full product identification number (PIN), loader model, carrier interface and fork-frame identification. If the loader was replaced or an adapter is fitted, include that change in the inquiry. A seller’s “universal” label leaves these details unanswered.
Deere’s February 2026 document lists fixed AP12F and floating AP13F; specific loader fit needs a separate chart. Dated listings do not confirm current fit. .
Do not use a familiar model prefix or matching paint as approval. For a connection you cannot identify, collect the missing information before comparing attachments; the loader-carrier guide covers that separate identification task.
Resolve the rating
Request the fork rating together with its stated load center, conditions and the document’s definition of that distance. Give the supplier the load’s weight, dimensions and center of gravity, including its packaging. For an uneven or unusually long load, ask which documented limits cover that case.
Frontier’s 2014 catalogue refers configuration capacity to the loader/tractor manual. .
AP10F’s February 2026 entry gives separate frame and tine-option ratings, not one assembled capacity. .
If a quotation supplies only a tine-option rating, ask for the assembled configuration’s documented limit. An unidentified frame or set of fitted tines leaves that capacity question unanswered.
Use the machine, loader and attachment documents to resolve the proposed operating position, complete attachment and adapter weight, and required configuration. Do not add component ratings or select the largest number from different documents. If the rating basis or approved setup remains unresolved, do not lift until the documentation or a qualified dealer resolves it.
Choose tine design
The 2014 catalogue describes fixed tines that can be repositioned and a separate floating arrangement. Treat this as a design distinction, not an operating instruction or a performance ranking. Use the exact fork manual to establish how adjustment and retention work on the assembly offered.
Describe the pallet or material you need to support: its dimensions, support area and access clearance. Compare those requirements with the documented tine length, spacing range and retention arrangement. A longer tine or a higher headline rating does not answer a missing fit or load-center question.
For fork extensions, a hook or another accessory, request approval for the exact item and complete machine-loader-fork combination. Ask for the resulting limits and installation instructions. Leave an undocumented accessory out of the lifting plan; physical attachment alone does not establish approval. For a grapple, include its hydraulic requirements in that inquiry.
Compare complete offers
Use the same questions for every offer, including a used assembly. Keep a frame-only quotation separate from a quotation that includes tines and retention parts.

For a replacement tine or lock, identify the fitted frame and component before requesting a current part number. A retailer’s model-name fit claim does not complete that check. Do not substitute a generic accessory for an unresolved repair item.
Ask the manufacturer or qualified dealer which tine, weld, frame, attachment-point and locking checks apply, including measurements, intervals and who may assess a defect. A photograph or seller’s reassurance cannot certify condition. Resolve uncertain identification or condition before use.
Obtain the applicable cleaning, lubrication, detachment, support and storage instructions rather than borrowing a grease schedule or repair method from another fork. Before operation, follow the exact machine, loader and fork manuals for load handling, travel, visibility and keeping people clear of raised loads.
