This shaft has grease zerks New driveshaft for the John Deere 44 Loader on a John Deere 420 & 430 tractor. Replaces John Deere Part #PT9224 Fix the rattle before it comes apart or ruins the splines on your PTO shaft.?***Very Important***This drive shaft was fitted to the John Deere 420 & 430 Garden Tractor to drive the hydraulic gear pump on a John Deere 44 Loader.?It is not for the 318 tractor.??If you have the rattle on your 44 loader drive shaft that develops now that your tractor & loader are several years old, it is likely you need a new drive shaft. Verify your PTO shaft bearings or pulleys are not the source of noise first. If the PTO shaft checks out OK, it is almost certainly the short drive shaft with the double universal joints. ?The OEM drive shaft is no longer available from John Deere and the OEM shaft appears non-rebuildable. Additionally, finding a yoke for a keyed ½" shaft is problematic (they don't exist). This drive shaft is built with name brand "Made in USA" components & professionally machined to receive a keyed ½" shaft on the gear pump. ?This drive shaft is ever so slightly longer than the OEM shaft, but will fit without modification or shimming of the pump. Additionally, the shaft is slightly larger in diameter than OEM, but causes no clearance issues whatsoever. This driveshaft is in fact better than the OEM in a couple regards. First, one of the points of noise on the OEM shaft is the small area of engagement the yoke has on the PTO, plus there is no detent for the shaft yoke to lock on the PTO shaft. This causes play between the yoke and the PTO shaft. This shaft provides for a longer engagement plus a spring loaded bearing lock on the shaft. Creates a firm engagement on the shaft providing no rattling. Second improvement with this shaft... it is rebuildable. The OEM shaft is not rebuildable. If you get another 30 years or more out of your 420, you can rebuild this drive shaft with commonly available u-joints.?I build these to order. I try to have a couple on hand but please allow up to 2 weeks for delivery. If you desire one, I will communicate with you if I have one available or what the wait time is. Realistically, I can have one of these out to you within 5 days. Please contact me through ebay for shipping to Alaska, Hawaii or Canada? Please do not hesitate to ask any questions.
